There will be times when nothing is listed in certain categories. It’s not an oversight. It just means there is nothing for sale at that moment.

eBay, How to Bid

*NOTE: All items are listed in Pacific Standard Time (PST)

1. Open a free eBay account. Just follow the directions on the screen. Make sure you save your login ID and password for future purchases. eBay will email you if you are outbid on an item and also if you win.

2. Open a PayPal account. PayPal has been around and highly trusted for years. You choose which credit cards/bank accounts to use with PayPal and PayPal takes the money out of your account and transfers it to the seller. This protects you from having to give out your account numbers to others.

When you purchase anything, you give the seller your PayPal account name (email address used) and PayPal does the rest. Be sure to watch your inbox for your “Congratulations You Won” email as well as your invoice to pay and later on your shipping information, usually with a tracking number for your records.

3. Decide whether you want to Bid now, Buy it now (Note: The “Buy it now” function is not available on every item so be sure to look for that option) or Add to watch list.

* Bid now – First scroll down and get all the information on the item you like. Check shipping costs as you don’t want any surprises at the end. This has to be factored into your cost of the item. You can place a bid now or wait, depending on the time remaining until the bid closes. The time is shown in days/hours/minutes/seconds and turns red when it gets to minutes until auction ending.

NOTE: As you get down to minutes and even seconds that is where most of the bidding activity takes place. Refresh (F5) your page often to keep current on the bidding, or you can lose out in the very last seconds.

* Buy it now – The price for Buy it now is shown on the screen. If you want the item and don’t want to wait, use this option. This will ensure you get the item and no one else can! Scroll down and check everything before you hit the button, to make sure that it is what you want.

* Add to watch list – If there is a substantial amount of time left until bid ending, you might want to use this option. You can keep an eye on what is happening over the days, hours or minutes.

You can access your Watching items via My eBay found on the upper right hand corner of any eBay page.

Good luck!! I hope you enjoy the “thrill of the chase,” and get the items you’re bidding on.
